Epic Pharmacy named in the Top 50 Most Innovative Companies 2016

Epic Pharmacy has been named in the Australian Financial Review Top 50 Most Innovative Companies for their development of digital health tools – Medication Manager and ChartFlow. The list ranks the most innovative organisations in Australia, and is the only national, cross-industry list of its kind.

Co-owner of Epic Pharmacy Cathie Reid, is excited about what this means for Epic Pharmacy and the future of the health industry.

“To be listed in the Top 50 Most Innovative Companies is extremely exciting for Epic Pharmacy. Not only does it recognise the innovative work we are doing, it highlights how companies are bridging the gap between a paperbased industry and a digital future and are paving the way for a new era in healthcare,” Ms Reid said.

Medication Manager and ChartFlow are two innovations Epic Pharmacy has seen from concept through to development and implementation into the market.

“We’re always working to be digitally ‘fit’ in a fast-paced industry, while also addressing current and relevant issues in the healthcare sector. Medication Manager and ChartFlow are addressing today’s pain points and at the same time positioning the industry for an e-health future,” Ms Reid said.

Medication Manager is a secure electronic platform which allows patients and healthcare professionals real time access to pharmacy information, including medication profiles. This important information can be accessed via any mobile or PC device and shared with authorised parties, and includes the option of real-time dose reminders that prompts patients to take their medication.

ChartFlow was developed to allow pharmacy and nursing staff to capture an image of the medication chart via a tablet device, where they can annotate instructions, flag urgencies then send directly to the pharmacy for dispensing.

This not only transforms hospital pharmacy workflows, reducing turnaround times for pharmacy orders, but improves the safety and efficiency of medication supply by eliminating the opportunity for transcription errors.

Epic Pharmacy Group has locations all over Australia and have three main areas of specialty practice: hospital pharmacy, cancer care pharmacy and aged care pharmacy.

Epic Digital is a business created by Epic Pharmacy Group to conceptualise and deliver technologies like Medication Manager and ChartFlow.
